The Hill of Tara in the Boyne Vally is one of Ireland’s most important ancient ceremonial landscapes. Its main monuments include the Mound of the Hostages, a Neolithic passage tomb, and a series of large earthworks such as the Rath of the Synods, the Royal Enclosure, and the Forradh. The Lia Fáil, or Stone of Destiny, stands on the summit and is traditionally linked with the inauguration of kings. Together, these monuments reflect Tara’s long history as a place of ritual, burial, kingship, and political symbolism.
