Rossnaree House -
Historic private house offering elegant guest
accommodation overlooking the megalithic sites of Newgrange and Knowth
and the River Boyne.
The Brú na Bóinne visitors centre is just two miles from Rossnaree House.
Rossnaree (The Headland of the King) was built in the italianate style
with earlier parts dating from the early 1700's. The site has been
identified as the House of Cletty, where it is thought the High Kings
coming from Tara would wait before crossing the
river Boyne to partake in seasonal ceremonies.
Rossnaree is set above a bend on the river Boyne surrounded by the lands
of the family farm. The Law family have since 1925 extended the fishery
with the lands, which were once part of the Cistercian Abbey of Mellifont.
The lands were later granted to the Earl of Drogheda.

Here Finn Mac Cumhail is said to have cooked the legendary Salmon of
Knowledge. Rossnaree has also figured in many notable battles and events
throughout our history. A famously contested crossing took place here
during the Battle of the Boyne.

Aisling Law lives in the house, and welcome those wishing to
stay, or to hold functions there. Rossnaree is set in 200 acres of
pasture, woodlands and gardens, with many paths and scenic walkways.
Fishing is available for guests by arrangement, along a stretch of
riverbank just below the house.
Rossnaree has great views of Newgrange and Knowth, even from inside the house the mounds can
be seen from the breakfast room and the
bedrooms which overlook the Boyne.
